The South By Southwest (SXSW) 2012 Music Festival has already named its dates, and has opened ticket registration. Once the domain of up and coming bands,
the South by Southwest Music Festival has turned into a place where established
bands now play to get exposure in a more
crowded music industry.
Of course, the 2012 lineup will include bands we've never heard of, some
of which will break out big later in the year.

SXSW Panel Picker voting has closed, and festival organizers will announce the accepted Panel Picker proposals sometime in October.
The SXSW Gear Expo will feature all the newness in guitars, amps, drums, and more from all sorts of names in the industry. It runs from Wednesday, Mar. 14 through Friday, Mar. 16 from 12:00 - 6:00 PM as well as an Saturday, Mar. 17 from 12:00 - 5:00 PM. Find out more.

This is the gathering that shapes the
rest of the year ... check out anybody who'll be somebody at SXSW 2012. It's
a week of shows, discussion panels, schmoozing,
new bands, schmoozing, drunkeness while
trying to schmooze, etc.
There's a simultaneous SXSW Film Festival
that coincides with the SXSW music festival.
It's no Sundance yet, but it is an interesting
indie venue, with over 170 films. There's also a SXSW Interactive component
to cover the web.
