Best Music Apps for Your Firestick

  Making your TV a jukebox

If you’re looking to take your eyes off the screen and enjoy some great music, Amazon Firestick still has you covered. There’s an app for everything these days and Firestick will make the best of it. It plays music just as it plays the video - through specialized apps - and we now overview some of the best ways to make it happen. We cover the basics as well as some of the features we found important for the overall experience, looking to help you pick and choose.

Spotify

Spotify works like a charm and offers the best range of content when it comes to music as well as podcasts. It’s likely the most popular streaming platform dedicated solely to music and along the way, it changed the industry as such. We can hardly argue the success and the obvious background of it all.

The app offers a straightforward approach to listening to music and it’s no different on Firestick. Spotify is easy to navigate whether you’re looking to search for favorites, browse categories, or listen to the radio. This is especially true when you start creating your own playlists and expanding your library.

What we didn’t like was the fact that the free version limits the features at hand, unlike what we’ve seen on Windows. This means you are likely to spend $9.99 a month or more on a subscription if you enjoy Spotify and want to make it your preferred music player on Firestick.

Deezer

Deezer doesn’t compare to Spotify in terms of popularity but it certainly does in many other aspects. The platform offers high-quality sound and focuses on the experience to attract and retain users. This means you’ll find high-end MP3s and FLAC numbers to fully capitalize on the speakers and the soundbar.

The app looks clean and simplistic, which makes it very easy to use and intuitive even if you are not used to streaming music. With over 90 million tracks available, there’s something for everybody and playlists automatically created to suit you based on the artists you select are a nice touch indeed.

The premium version is ad-free and lets you skip songs in shuffled playlists as much as you want. However, the features are not as affected as is the case with Spotify, when compared against the free version. This has had us reflecting if this could be a more suitable approach for Amazon Firestick. Read more…

Fildo

Moving past what you could call the mainstream, Fildo finds its way to our list with a variety of features not found elsewhere. The app fetches data from partner sites rather than boasting a library of its own, which could lead to copyright infringement and is a thing to consider.

Fildo shows more on the screen and this is the first thing everyone will notice. While we enjoy simplicity more, it’s fair to note the interface made it easy to switch between Home, Library, and Search as well as top 100 playlists. Ability to download entire playlists and play them offline set it apart for us as the app’s prime selling point.

Interestingly, the app we found in Firestick Downloader was but a mere player and we were only able to download songs when getting the app from the Fildo website. This means you will have to jailbreak your Fire TV stick if you want to fully utilize the features actually in the offer.

YMusic

The same goes for YMusic and there’s just as much to be excited about, as the app lets you play music from YouTube and music alone. This means data savings and a great way to play music in the background if you don’t want your party to revolve around the screen, for example.

The app is very simple to use and looks good as well, although it’s hardly made as a decisive factor in attracting new users. It resembles YouTube mobile apps in many ways and will offer a speedy service even with slow or unstable Internet connections. If you’re used to YT, you will have no trouble adjusting here.

YMusic also lets you download songs in MP3 and play them offline, which is a great plus for Android users looking to listen on the go. The app received great praise early on and reviews all point in the same direction we can certainly go along with - a safe and enjoyable experience.

MusVid

Quite possibly the least known app on the list, MusVid is somewhat of a new kid on the block. The app on the rise offers a huge music (and video) library bound to satisfy the pickiest among us. It’s also easy on the eye with a smooth interface despite maybe showing too much on the home screen.

What we particularly enjoyed is the ability to listen to just about anything online and with no ads whatsoever. From evergreen classics to the latest top hits, we’ve had no problem playing our favorites. However, it’s quite questionable how long MusVid will be able to keep it up at no cost for the user whatsoever.

Final Thoughts: Who Should You Listen To?

All said and done, it depends on what you want to go for. We’ve listed some of the big guns and went for some less popular options as well. All of the apps listed have upsides they’d love emphasized but truth be told, you will find your particular downsides anywhere you go.

Spotify will provide the greatest range when it comes to content while Deezer is more oriented to sound quality and user experience. YMusic provides what many music aficionados wanted in YouTube music alone but Fildo focuses largely on features in the offer. There’s no one-size-fits-all here but streaming music is enjoyable with these and one of them will most certainly fit you!
