Apple’s mixed-reality headset has new momentum for a Spring 2023 announcement. The name will be called Apple Reality Pro. If that happens, it’s likely that the Apple headset will be released later this year, potentially around its annual Fall release of new Apple products.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that software and hardware issues had forced Apple to delay shipment of the product to the second half of the year.
This leaves the Apple announcement open for either the spring or at Apple’s developer event (WWDC), which is usually in June.
There's been Apple Reality Pro release date rumors before, but the 2023 release date now seems legit based on what's known right now.
The Apple headset is rumored to include mixed, virtual and augmented reality capabilities. It will run on a new operating system called xrOS, and Apple has given a group of software developers access to the platform to start creating applications.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said “With the current plan, Apple could introduce the device to consumers — likely under the name Reality Pro — and then get developers up to speed on its software features in June. On this timeline, the company would then ship the product later in the fall of 2023.”
