Microsoft recently launched its Surface Laptop 7 without Intel chips, opting for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite to promote Windows on Arm.
However, a prototype Surface Laptop with Intel’s latest Lunar Lake chips has surfaced on the Chinese marketplace Goofish, potentially indicating a future release.
The listing, since deleted, shows a device with Intel’s Core Ultra 7 268V processor and a "prototype - not for sale" marking, confirming its authenticity. It’s not clear whether this is a variant of the Surface Laptop 7 or the next generation, Surface Laptop 8. The prototype resembles the Surface Laptop 7, and its Intel option could support Copilot Plus PC features, which earlier Surface models lacked.
The device might be officially unveiled at CES 2025, though it could be limited to commercial customers. Microsoft has not commented on the leak.
