New Music From Mogwai With ‘The Bad Fire’ + Listen + Tour Dates
The Scottish post rock band Mogwai just announced that they're releasing their 11th studio album titled The Bad Fire.
The album is being described as a group of songs that avoid nostalgia and instead focus on some of the most beautiful and explosive tracks in Mogwai’s career. The album was produced by their longtime producing partner John Congleton and it was recorded in Lanarkshire.
The release date for The Bad Fire is January 24th, 2025 via the band's own Temporary Residence label. The full tracklist has been shared, some notable tracks include “God Gets You Back”, "”Lion Rumpus,” and “18 Volcanoes.”
The band has released “Lion Rumpus” (which you can listen to below) as a single, following the lead single “God Gets You Back.”
“Lion Rumpus” has crunchy, fuzzy, explosive guitar work with a psychedelic vibe, and its music video showcases a lighthearted theme involving dogs in New York City.
The album is available for pre-order in various formats, including limited clear vinyl 2xLP, 3xLP box set, cassette, CD box set, and CD. Some pre-orders come with signed prints, especially limited to the first few orders of the clear vinyl edition.
Mogwai has planned an extensive tour to support The Bad Fire, with North American dates starting in Washington D.C. on April 7, 2025, and including stops in major cities like Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Boston, Toronto, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Austin among others.
