For the first time, we have a look at what the beginning of what THREADS will be like as part of the FEDIVERSE.
The FEDIVERSE consists of various independent social media platforms and websites that are capable of interacting with each other.
This allows users on different platforms within the FEDIVERSE network to exchange updates and communicate seamlessly.
See our Spacelab How To Be A Creator guide to get started on being a creator.
So with a new video from Peter Cottle (who’s on the THREADS team at Meta), we have a great preview. Watch the video above.
What you need to know for Threads Fediverse posts
-
You need to set your THREADS profile to public to take part
-
Once that’s set, your posts can be posted to other services that are part of ACTIVITYPUB
-
To start, you’ll be able to “broadcast out and get likes in”
-
Your replies to a FEDIVERSE profile will only be broadcast out if you’ve turned on the FEDIVERSE for your profile, allowing private profiles to maintain privacy
-
Once you share a post the the FEDIVERSE, there’s a 5 minute delay before it’s broadcast out, giving you time to delete or edit
-
If you delete a post, THREADS can’t guarantee that it will be deleted on other platforms. They’re working. On this, and the ability to delete will be enhanced soon.
