Before anything makes the list, THREADS’ own content specialists give it a once-over to ensure it plays nice with the community rules. So, when you hit up that search icon, the one that looks like a magnifying glass, you'll get a neat lineup of the top five topics that are totally ruling the roost.

So, even though META recently said they'd cut back on pushing political stuff in recommendations, unless you opt in, they're making an exception for the trending topics on THREADS. 

That means politics and election chat is still on the table for those trending spots. It kind of makes sense, right? While some folks want to steer clear of political banter, others are on the hunt for it, eager to dive into the conversation. This way, everyone gets to choose what they're up for seeing or skipping.
